I recently reviewed the SweetNight Prime 4-in-1 Mattress and was impressed with its versatile design and 4 firmness levels. A couple of days ago, I came across the Snooze Flip mattress, also marketed as 4-in-1, and this Snooze Flip review became inevitable. Could these 4-in-1 mattresses signal the new trend in an overcrowded market? Are they able to solve our sleep problems?
There’s definitely something there! The best hybrid or foam mattress today may no longer serve your needs and match your lifestyle tomorrow. Then, you need cooling features during the hot summer nights, but not all of us live in the tropics or like to see our heating bills skyrocket in winter. A mattress that you can change as your needs change sounds like a dream come true, especially since you’re bound to sleep on it for years.
But then, in a market where tens, perhaps hundreds of brands promise the moon and the sky and deliver peanuts, can you really trust another one? The devil hides in the details, so let’s start digging!
Snooze Sleep, the Company Behind the Snooze Flip Mattress
Apparently, after starting the Snooze Mattress Company franchise, Matt Smith, author, entrepreneur, and undercover billionaire decided to create his own brand, Snooze Sleep. Snooze Flip, the 4-in-1 mattress, is its heart and soul. It embodies Matt and his team’s findings while helping 20m people improve their sleep. Matt was also the author of the first Snooze Flip review. The development of the mattress involved input from quite a few health experts, from sleep doctors to kinesiologists and many more.
We couldn’t find too much information about the Snooze Sleep brand, but the preliminary details look promising. They’re American-funded and based. Their product lineup is quite comprehensive and backed by generous trials and warranties. And while the market is stuffed with mattress brands, this one seems to bring a lot of new stuff to the table, not just when it comes to design, but also when it comes to materials and accessories.
Snooze Flip Review – 4-in-1 Snooze Sleep Mattress Highlights
The Snooze mattress is a stylish combination of white, grey, and orange. It has a textured cover with relief lines and patterns, half white, and half grey, separated by a vivid orange zipper. The thick, durable, textured fabric of the cover ensures the necessary adherence for keeping the bedding in place. Its light colors can be helpful when using thinner, transparent bedding. I hate it when the mattress cover patterns can be seen under the sheets. Luckily, that’s not a concern with the Flip.
Delivered in a box, it’s better carried and unpacked by two people. It will need some time to decompress and inflate, preferably in a well-aired room, to allow any side smells to fade. And then, you will need some patience to try its sides and cover and decide which combination is best for you. However, the effort should be well worth it. Taking a look under the cover may help you understand why.
Layers & Construction
- The cover, just like the mattress itself, is flippable. It has a warm side and a cool side. The former has deep pockets and a plushy material that feels like a warm embrace. The latter is made of a high-density polymer enhanced with the company’s proprietary Steel Feel technology, able to absorb and dissipate body heat.
- Underneath, there’s a 3” comfort layer. It’s made of Snooze Swirl foam, the most advanced and consistent combination of gel foam. Its obvious role is to ensure cooling and breathability while relieving pressure and embracing the sleeper’s body with the perfect combination of cushioning and bounce.
- Next, we have a 2” transition layer made of a special foam supposed to provide improved lumbar support.
- A 4” support layer made of Sure Align foam with 2lb density follows, with the goal to add support and stability.
- Finally, the firm side of the mattress is completed by a 3” high-performance layer of SnoozeTex foam and latex combination.
The four layers add up to a thickness of 12”. It’s more than enough for a foam mattress to be comfortable and supportive, yet easy to move and flip.
Sure, you’ll find mattresses of 14” and even higher thicknesses. However, leaving the need for selling points aside, it’s better to sleep on a supportive and comfortable mattress made of high-quality and durable materials than to climb on a pile of cheap foams that will start sagging immediately after the trial ends or they’ll keep you warm and sweaty around the year.
Snooze Flip Materials and Performance
While most foam mattresses have similar cross sections: cooling gel, transition or comfort foam, and support foam, the Snooze Sleep R&D team went the extra mile.
They chose their CertiPUR-US foams carefully and even improved them with latex to add consistency, cooling, and bounce while keeping the spine aligned and properly supported.
4 Comfort Options in 1 Mattress
Their smart combinations resulted in 2 mattress sides, 2 firmness options, and 4 distinct comfort zones:
- Cool-Soft
- Cool-Firm
- Warm-Soft
- Warm-Firm
To switch between comfort zones, you have to flip the mattress and/or reverse the cover. It’s not the easiest process in the world but you only have to do it once or twice a decade, so it should be acceptable. It’s definitely better than replacing your mattress when your needs change, having to dispose of the old one, and paying for a new mattress.
Support and Pressure Relief
With the Snooze Flip, support and pressure relief are a given. The only question you should ask yourself is which side suits your needs and preferences best. If you’re a side sleeper, chances are you’ll love the soft side, as it’s plushier and easier on your hips and shoulders, while contouring your body curves and supporting you. Back and stomach sleepers are likely to prefer the firm side, as it provides more support and allows for better spine alignment.
Weight may be a factor as well, with lightweight sleepers reporting more comfort on soft mattresses and heavy sleepers needing the added lift and support of firmer mattresses. The good news is that no matter the category you belong to you don’t have to choose before buying. Once you receive the mattress, you can test both sides and see which one feels more comfortable and supportive. And if you and your partner don’t see eye to eye, there’s no conflict or difference of opinion that a split king Snooze Flip can’t fix.
Motion Isolation
Memory foam mattresses do a great job isolating motion in general. The Snooze Flip performs even better in this sense, probably due to the proprietary foam blends and technologies. In other words, if you share your bed, you can rest assured that neither you nor your partner will feel the other one’s tossing and turning. Of course, lack of motion transfer also implies limited bounce. While this mattress does not create the feeling of trapped and doesn’t let you sink, it’s not the bounciest either. Couples with an active lifestyle shouldn’t expect the mattress to do the work for them, but pairing it with an adjustable base should help a lot and even add some spice to their bedroom life.
Trial and Warranty Period
One of the things that drew my attention upon first checking the Snooze website was the trial period. One year is a lot, and I know of quite a few famous brands whose mattresses started sagging and forming lumps after only a couple of months. Well, forget about those! You can try the Snooze Sleep in the comfort of your home for one full year. And if you don’t like it, you can return it and get your money back.
Of course, it’s almost impossible not to like at least one of the comfort options available, so the risk the company takes is not that high. They’re actually so confident in their mattress that they support it with a lifetime warranty. Matt Smith even mentions a 120 years lifespan, which is insane considering that specialists recommend replacing your mattress at least every decade. It’s pretty rare to see such trials and warranties, so kudos to Snooze!
Snooze Flip Review of Price and Value
The queen size of this mattress retails for $1799 and is subject to a $300 discount. If you look at the Flip as a standard 12” mattress, it may seem expensive at $1499. When you look at materials, performance, and versatility, things change. You’ll find many mattresses with lower and higher prices, but few are able to match Snooze’s specs and features within its price. That should mean something and, for me, it means that the price is worth paying and in line with the value and comfort this mattress provides.

Other Snooze Products to Consider
The Snooze Flip 4-in-1 mattress is just the cherry on the Snooze Sleep pie. They also offer an innovative adjustable base, with impressive features like programmable presets, voice control, USB ports, underbed lights, and more, the Snooze™ X Ergo Motion, as well as a complete line of bedding products:
I couldn’t help but notice the fact that each of these products was developed with utmost care and focus on sleeper needs, from cooling and touch to waterproofing, breathability, and neck support. They didn’t just throw some sheets and pillows on their websites like I’ve seen many brands do, they created complex, practical products aiming to improve sleep comfort and quality.
Conclusion
Each sleeper has different needs and preferences, and it’s impossible to anticipate how well a single mattress can answer all. However, Snooze Flip has advanced features and versatility most other mattresses on the market lack. It’s definitely worth a try, especially with the 365 nights trial period. One thing that got to me is that the company owner was the first one to endorse it. Look around, and you will see it’s quite rare.
Few people associate their name with a specific product, and many sleep brands on the market are just fancy logos and aggressive marketing of plain products. Call me biased, but I love brands where the owners are directly involved in the manufacturing and marketing process. They stake their name and reputation, and I like to think they wouldn’t do that for low-quality products that they themselves wouldn’t use.
