A new sleep tracking and optimization device debuted at CES – the Sleepal AI Lamp. It’s not something you wear on your wrist or finger. It is a contactless bedside gadget that leverages a combination of multimodal sensors and radar technology to monitor your sleep patterns. Having already won three awards, it seemed worth a closer look.
Sleep tracking and optimization may not be a priority for those who enjoy restful sleep throughout the night. However, it could prove vital, even life-changing, for those who suffer from insomnia, sleep apnea, or other conditions that prevent them from getting their much-needed rest. It is well known that insufficient sleep hurts mental and physical health. Under the circumstances, any device that could help improve sleep and overall well-being is worth a closer look.

Contactless Sleep Monitoring
Unlike traditional smartwatches or rings currently used for sleep tracking, the Sleepal AI Lamp operates without any need for physical contact. This means you can leave your wearable device charging or simply forget about it.
The lamp is designed to sit on your nightstand. From there, it detects subtle physiological signals throughout the night, including heart rate, respiratory rate, body movement, transitions between sleep stages, and snoring.
The underlying technology utilizes millimeter-wave radar or ultra-wideband sensors, capable of detecting micromovements even beneath thick blankets. This method helps avoid the accuracy pitfalls of app-based microphone solutions, which often depend on the placement of your phone or its battery level.
It also saves you the trouble of wearing rings or bracelets, avoiding the discomfort that may come with them, as well as worries about keeping them charged, away from water, etc.
Comprehensive Sensing Capabilities
Inside, the lamp houses a range of sensors. Acoustic analysis detects snoring and ambient noise, while thermal sensors contribute to body pose awareness. Radar modules monitor heart rhythms, breathing patterns, and even presence sensing.
Unlike wearable sleep trackers, the device also keeps track of environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and light exposure. It provides a holistic picture of how your surroundings impact your sleep quality.
AI-Powered Insights and User Experience
The Sleepal AI Lamp goes beyond simply tracking your breathing and movements. Behind the scenes, it processes your data through a suite of AI models trained on thousands of validated sleep studies. This enables the device to estimate whether you’re in REM, deep, or light sleep, all without requiring you to wear anything to bed.
Then, the Sleepal App comes into play, compiling the collected and processed data into an easy-to-understand sleep score, breaking down your nightly patterns with graphs and trends. Additionally, its built-in assistant offers personalized sleep improvement suggestions, such as adjusting your bedtime or dimming the lights earlier. It’s all based on your recent sleep data and specialist sleep advice.
It’s impressive how this elegant lamp manages not only to track a wide range of data but also to interpret it at a macro-level, putting it into context. Sleep is influenced by external factors as well, like room temperature, noise, light, humidity, etc. The app doesn’t just highlight sleep issues. It identifies potential causes and suggests effective solutions.
A Lamp with Circadian-Friendly Features
Beyond its sleep tracking capabilities, the Sleepal AI Lamp functions as a versatile room light. It offers circadian lighting controls, including sunrise simulations to help you wake up gently and warm-toned lighting in the evening.
The lamp features a full-color touchscreen dial for smooth manual dimming, and its modern, cylindrical design fits seamlessly on any nightstand.
Streamlined for Simplicity and Convenience
The Sleepal AI Lamp’s contactless approach offers a high level of convenience. The device begins monitoring as soon as you lie down, with no need to wear, charge, or sync anything. For those who find wristbands or rings uncomfortable, the Sleepal Lamp delivers detailed sleep insights without any wearable tech.
It’s a discrete, accurate sleep tracking solution for the entire household. You just set it on your nightstand, plug it in, and let it work its magic. There’s no disturbance whatsoever to your daily comfort or routine.
It’s even able to identify and accurately track co-sleepers, focusing on the person closest to the device. Couples can each have their own bedside lamp and not worry about interferences or inaccurate readings.
Emphasis on Privacy
The Sleepal AI Lamp’s design guarantees privacy. According to the company’s website, all data collection and most of the processing takes place locally, on the device, and only necessary, anonymized data goes to the AI cloud for processing and suggestions.
The device does not record images or sound, which could be considered sensitive. It only tracks acoustics (snoring and noise), sleep position (thermal awareness), body rhythm (presence, breathing, heart rhythm), and ambience data (temperature, light, and humidity). This approach reduces the risk of data leaks and ensures that raw biometric information isn’t transmitted over the internet.
Availability and Upcoming Launch
Currently in its pre-launch phase, the Sleepal AI Lamp will soon be available through a Kickstarter campaign. Interested users can sign up on the official website to secure a launch discount. Apple Watch and Ring users can download the Sleepal App for free from https://app.sleepal.ai/ to track their sleep and receive advice until the Sleepal Lamp becomes available.
The manufacturer recently showcased the device at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, where it already received three Innovation Awards: Smart Home, Digital Health, and Accessibility & Longevity.
