SweetNight CoolNest Hybrid Review – New 16” Mattress Cooling Sleepers on a Budget

sweetnight coolnest hybrid mattress

As some of you may already know, I’m addicted to bargains and products that provide excellent value for the money. When I heard that one of my favorite mattress brands, SweetNight, had launched another mattress under $500, the CoolNest Hybrid, I had to evaluate it. I will share my findings in the following lines. But, before diving into the details, I’d like to share a few facts about the manufacturer.

About SweetNight and Their Mattresses

SweetNight has been selling on the U.S. market for over a decade, focusing mostly on mattresses and pillows. Their products are also available on Amazon, Wayfair, Walmart, Home Depot, Costco, Lowe’s, and in other retail stores and have excellent customer reviews. Products purchased through the official website benefit from a 100-night trial period and a 10-year warranty.

Between us, I’ve seen better longer warranties and trial periods, but only with much higher price points. The 100 nights are more than enough to let you get used to your new mattress and decide if you like it or not. The 10-year warranty is solid enough, considering that the average lifetime of a mattress is 7-10 years.

Longer trials and warranties become useless when the mattress is two times more expensive. Besides, there’s no telling how your sleep position, arrangements, and mattress needs will change throughout the years. Finally, in this unstable market where even the largest players risk bankruptcy, lifetime warranties easily become useless.

Slowly but surely, SweetNight mattresses made their way on lists of best mattresses by Sleep Foundation, Apartment Therapy, Everyday Health, Naplab, Sleepline, and more, so you’re in pretty good hands and following expert recommendations when buying their products.

About the SweetNight CoolNest Hybrid

This mattress is part of a new cooling mattress series that the manufacturer debuted in 2025, showcased in January at the Vegas Furniture Show. It is the hybrid alternative of the CoolNest foam mattress that I reviewed here. From the aesthetic point of view, it follows the same dark grey and navy color combination, but with a sturdier-looking design marked by vertical side stitches and a relief, bold pillowtop.

Things get much more interesting when we take a look at the construction:

  1. Ice silk coversweetnight coolnest hybrid mattress layers
  2. Gel foam
  3. Comfort foam
  4. Gel foam
  5. PCMflux® foam
  6. High-Density foam
  7. Zoned support foam
  8. Dynamic Coil™ system
  9. Reinforced foam edges

What Makes the CoolNest Hybrid Mattress Special?

Multi-Stage Cooling with the Already Proven CoolNest® System

This hybrid mattress uses the same cooling system that made its foam counterpart famous, but with a twist. The cover combines ice silk fabric with gel-infused memory foam and plush comfort foam to create a cool, cloud-like feel unavailable in any other SweetNight mattress. Its effect is further enhanced by the high-resilience PCMflux® foam (infused with PCM gel particles), and gel-infused memory foam layers work together to improve airflow and dissipate heat. According to the manufacturer, the mattress should feel up to 8° cooler compared to traditional hybrid mattresses. I haven’t actually measured the temperature, but the cool feel is definitely there.

Dynamic Coil™ System with Enhanced Edge Support

The old SweetNight hybrid mattress models provided sound support and motion isolation, but edge support was average. The new system uses smaller and more flexible coils, further localizing support, response, and pressure relief. It also adds a foam encasement and a reinforced side stitching system to further improve edge support, stability, and durability.

Three Thickness Options to Meet All Needs

Although SweetNight started providing multiple thickness options for their mattresses immediately after their U.S. launch, they took that approach to the next level last year, introducing 16” mattress options. In the meantime, they also gave up 8” and 10” options, showing their commitment to higher profiles and better support.

The CoolNest Hybrid is available in 12”, 14”, and 16” thickness. It goes without saying that the thinner option is best for murphy beds, trundle beds, guest bedrooms, and temporary arrangements where you’re looking for a quick, affordable, and convenient solution. Each of the other options further improves comfort, support, pressure relief, and motion isolation, with the 16” promising the most luxurious feel.

Firmness and Sleeper Profiles

The CoolNest hybrid has medium firmness, about 6.5/10. This makes it great for most shoppers and sleep arrangements, including but not limited to:

  • Limited budgets
  • Hot sleepers
  • Dorms and college students
  • Seniors and assisted living facilities
  • Couples and families
  • Kids and teenagers
  • Short and long-term rentals
  • Guest rooms
  • Back pain sufferers
  • Surgery or injury recovery
  • Adjustable beds
  • Murphy beds

The only exceptions would refer to thin side sleepers with a clear preference for soft mattresses, overweight back and stomach sleepers with a preference for firmer support, and shoppers who want a luxury name and price tag and are willing to pay the price.

Same Affordable SweetNight Prices

At the time of this review, the CoolNest Hybrid price starts at $499 for a 12” queen and goes up to $699 for a 16” queen. It’s $100 more expensive than the CoolNest foam, but still much more affordable than competitor products with similar specs. In fact, most competitor products with similar specs are 2-3 times more expensive.

The price occasionally includes free pillows, worth up to $50. I think it’s important to note that, while most mattresses come with cheap, thin pillows rolled inside, SweetNight will ship Cooling Adjustable Pillows or Comfort Support Pillows separately. I’m talking about a pack of two comfortable and supportive pillows with washable covers and reinforced stitching that your family will probably end up fighting for.

CoolNest Hybrid vs. Twilight – Which SweetNight Pillowtop Mattress Is Best?

The Twilight mattress is SweetNight’s first and best-selling pillowtop mattress, highly appreciated for its superior comfort and support, similar to that provided by much more expensive mattresses. Compared to its new alternative, the Twilight is $50 cheaper and has the 10” thickness option and thousands of excellent reviews to back it up.

On the other hand, the CoolNest Hybrid provides better cooling and edge support, due to the newer, better-performing materials. It also looks sturdier and more modern, with greater potential than its big brother

Judging by the success and numerous awards and endorsements of the CoolNest Foam, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the CoolNest Hybrid drive the Twilight into the shadows and steal the spotlight. The new series definitely looks and feels more appealing than all the SweetNight mattresses preceding it.

Final Thoughts and Making the Most of Your SweetNight CoolNest Hybrid Mattress

This mattress is great for most shoppers and sleepers, promising luxurious comfort, generous pressure relief, and reliable support, even on the edges. Its cooling system has already proven its effectiveness, and the ice silk pillowtop is the cherry on top of the pie. It looks and feels more expensive than it really is, able to satisfy both solo and co-sleepers, young and old, so ordering it for your master bedroom, kids room, and/or guest room should be a no-brainer.

To make the most of it, measure the foundation carefully and ensure that you order the correct size. If you need more than one mattress or have friends or relatives in the market for one, consider buying together and reach out to customer service – they may be able to provide a discount for larger orders.

Monitor the delivery schedule and have a friend or family member around to help, maybe a lorry as well, as it can be pretty heavy and difficult to carry around and unbox. Let the mattress inflate and off-gas in a well-aired room for 48-72h before sleeping on it. The process is usually faster, but these are the standard manufacturer recommendations, and it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Give yourself at least 30 days to sleep on the new bed and get used to it. The transition from old to new, foam to hybrid, thin to thick, etc., often requires an adjustment period. You have up to 100 nights to test the mattress and return it for a full refund if you don’t like it, so take your time. Use a mattress protector to avoid stains or other unwanted accidents.

Sometimes, bad sleep is the result of various health issues, insomnia, sleep apnea, improper room temperature, and other factors not related to the mattress. If your sleep doesn’t improve but the mattress feels comfortable, a sleep tracking app may help you understand what’s going on and find solutions.

Generally, unless you need or prefer a very firm or very soft mattress, or a size that’s not available, I see no reason for you not to love and enjoy sleeping on the new SweetNight CoolNest Hybrid Mattress. It offers excellent comfort and value for the money, and, coming from a longstanding and reputable manufacturer, it should be a risk-free acquisition.
