Are you looking for a solid, comfortable, and durable mattress that will help you enjoy restful sleep without sweating your heart out or breaking the bank? You’re likely to find it at Lytton Sleep. A couple of weeks ago, I accompanied a friend to the Deep Sleep store in Edina, MN to choose a mattress for her guestroom.
We saw and tried several options, including the SweetNight Prime that I own. My friend was set on a hybrid, though, and that’s how we ended up testing the Lytton mattresses. We hadn’t heard of the brand, so imagine our surprise and curiosity when we discovered more comfort, support, and pressure relief than in several famous mattress models. Here’s what we learned!
About Lytton Sleep and Their Mattresses
The brand only sells two mattress models: Lytton Signature Comfort Plush and Lytton Signature Comfort Firm. They’re robust 12” hybrids produced by Bedding Industries of America, in Illinois, from CertiPur-US foams and Legget & Platt quantum edge coils systems. The Euro top tufted cover is zippered, for easy cleaning. It has reinforced side panels and no less than 8 handles. Backed by a 100-night in-home trial period and an impressive 2-decade warranty. Shipping and returns are free, and financing is available through Affirm and ShopPay.
Lytton Mattress Unboxing and Setup
Like all bed-in-a-box options, Lytton’s mattresses are delivered to your door rolled and compressed. However, due to their sturdy construction, they are on the heavier side, so it’s best to have help available. We surely were grateful to the DeepSleep team for carrying ours up the stairs and helping us set it up. As they explained, it’s best to lay the mattress on the bed, in the desired position, before removing the plastic wrap. This way, when the mattress inflates, it’s already in position and won’t require further carrying around.
It wasn’t our case, because, when my friend’s husband came home and tried the Lytton bed, he insisted on replacing their master bedroom mattress with it. That’s when the 8 handles came in useful. I bet that the manufacturer added them on purpose to show that the mattress is too heavy for two – it really is. But what’s so special about this mattress to determine this review and prompt my friend to choose it over his more expensive initial mattress? Let’s dive into construction details!
Lytton Mattress Construction
Both Lytton Signature Comfort Plush and Lytton Signature Comfort Foam have a very similar, 4-layer construction, the main difference between them being the density of the foams used. Here are the layers making up the 12” thickness:
1. Organic Cotton Tufted Cover
I’m a sucker for pillow tops but Lytton’s euro top is even better, as it offers the same comfort with better cooling. Two layers of premium CertiPUR foam are tufted in organic cotton (81% top) and polyester (19% base). One of the layers is made of cooling gel memory foam with an open cell structure, to help dissipate body heat, improving cooling and airflow.
2. UltraComfort™ Foam
This innovative foam relies on Supportive Air Technology™ and uses billions of microscopic air capsules to enhance support and reduce pressure. It’s not temperature sensitive, so it remains cool and comfortable, while also reducing motion transfer. Lytton Signature Plush uses 12 ILD foam, while Lytton Signature Firm uses 22 ILD foam.
3. Legget and Platt Quantum Edge Coils System
Coil mattresses sleep 28% cooler than their foam counterparts due to the improved airflow and temperature control. They also provide better support. This is all the more true for Lytton mattresses, as they use 8” quantum edge pocketed coils produced by the experts at Legget and Platt. These coils act as ultra-responsive micro beams that gently craddle and support your body, adjusting to every curve and pressure point. The zoned design allows them to provide enhanced lumbar and joint support.
4. Base Foam
Both mattress models rely on a 1” 1.8 density 36ILD PCC grey foam bottom panel. This layer ads stability, durability, and edge support to the entire construction, allowing Lytton mattresses to outlive their 20 years warranty period. The inherent rayon and carbon graft FR cloth is usually advertised as a separate layer by other mattress brands. It’s important to note that these mattresses don’t contain any fiberglass.

Lytton Sleep Price
A queen mattress costs $1899, cheaper than most similar models of more popular brands. It’s nowhere close to the mattresses under $500 we identified but still affordable and competitive. The best part is that the company runs regular promos during which buyers enjoy savings of several hundred dollars. The different financing options available allow for monthly payments of only $100, making Lytton beds easy to afford for anyone.
Reviews
Although Lytton is not a popular brand, I was able to find quite a few reviews for their mattresses, many of which were overwhelmingly positive. Their 3rd party ratings vary from 4.1/5 with MattressClarity.com to 4.8/5 with Naplab.com. The detailed video reviews and various test results suggest a solid, supportive, comfortable, and luxurious mattress that sleeps cool and isolates motion effectively. The two firmness options allow Lytton to cater to most sleepers’ needs. Back and stomach sleepers should love the firm version. Side sleepers and combination sleepers should get just the right amount of sink and cradle from the plush version.
Downsides
There aren’t many reasons to complain regarding these beds. Sure, they’re heavy and difficult to move around but you only need to worry about that when you set them up. And there are some cheaper products out there but they don’t come close to Lytton’s sturdy construction and comfort, so you get your money’s worth. I would also love to see accessories, like beds, pillows, sheets, mattress protectors, maybe blankets or duvets. Judging by the mattresses, they would probably be awesome. Even though they’re not an option, it shouldn’t be the end of the world, as Lytton mattresses are compatible with almost any accessories.
The Bottom Line about Lytton Sleep
With Signature Comfort Plush and Signature Comfort Firm, Lytton provides excellent, worthwhile sleep solutions for almost everyone. Mid-priced but excelling in quality, durability, and attention to detail, Lytton mattresses make a great choice for anyone in the market for a new mattress who’s not set on all-foam designs. They have quite a few reviews testifying to that, and an impressive 2-decades warranty.
